Situated at the southern end of Central California’s San Joaquin Valley, Hanford serves the cultural and commercial hub of Kings County. With agriculture as its driving economic force, Hanford provides residents and visitors with plenty of opportunities to enjoy fresh fare from farmers’s markets and farm-to-fork eating establishments or go wine tasting at the surrounding wineries. Approximately 11.7% of Hanford’s total population of 58,496 is 65 and over, which is several percentage points less than the national average of 16.8%.
According to Genworth’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey, the average monthly rate of assisted living communities in Hanford is $4,350 per month. This is slightly lower than the national average of $4,500 and nearly $1,000 lower than California’s statewide median of $5,250, which makes it a good option for those who want to live in California but are feeling hesitant about the state’s high price tag.
