Centrally located between Atlantic City and Philadelphia, Vineland, New Jersey, has a rich agricultural heritage that once earned it the nickname of the Egg Capital of the World, and residents still have plenty of opportunities to enjoy locally grown flavorful fare. Vineland’s downtown district, The Ave, includes farmers’ markets among its many eclectic vendors. Residents can also enjoy fine dining, creative casual cuisine, boutique shopping and community fairs and festivals at The Ave.

Even though New Jersey’s statewide cost of living is higher than the national average, Vineland’s average is 14% lower than the national average and over 34% lower than the New Jersey average. Residents of Vineland’s assisted living facilities pay an average of $6,400 per month, according to the 2021 Genworth Cost of Care Survey. This figure varies among individual facilities, however, depending on factors such as location, the quality and size of the accommodations and the types and amount of services and amenities offered.

We visited several assisted living facilities in Vineland and came up with this list of our top 10 favorites. Check it out to see if any are right for you.

Spring Oak Assisted Living of Vineland

Floor plans at this facility include studio and one- and two-bedroom apartments that residents are welcome to share with their small pets. Each unit is equipped with cable, internet and kitchens or kitchenettes. We were especially impressed with the kitchen staff's willingness to accommodate a variety of special dietary needs and preferences, such as vegetarian, low-fat, low-salt, diabetic and kosher diets, especially when they showed us their web-based menu program that allows culinary staff to get immediate approval from the dietitian.

Baker Place

This pet-friendly facility offers one-level living, which we liked for those with significant mobility issues who would find it uncomfortable to navigate steps and elevators constantly. We also admired the range of activities provided despite Baker Place being one of the smaller facilities we visited, with a 47-resident capacity. Residents can choose from individual or group arts and crafts projects, fitness classes, community outings and gardening. As a faith-based facility, residents also have plenty of opportunities for fellowship and worship.

Maurice House, A Juniper Village

We included this facility on our top 10 list because of its signature programs that bring access to certain medical services on-site. Residents can receive routine primary care and occupational and physical therapy without leaving the facility, and electronic health records and a medical concierge help streamline communication, facilitate services and transfer information. Despite its state-of-the-art approach to senior care, this facility features old-school comfort and charm with homelike touches such as shaded front porches and inviting common areas.

Brookdale Evesham

We included Brookdale Evesham on our top 10 list primarily because we liked its signature Personalized Assisted Living program. The facility provides residents with the services that best suit their personal needs and preferences instead of getting a cookie-cutter approach to care. Allegria at the Fountains

We decided to give this facility a place on our top 10 list before we even saw the inside, thanks to its spacious grounds with attractive landscaping, walking paths, a relaxing gazebo and a sparkling fountain in a pristine pond at the center of it all. Tylers Mill Senior Living

We were lucky enough to arrive at this facility just in time for lunch, and it didn't take much persuading to convince us to accept its gracious offer to join its residents in the dining room. We were served tasty, nutritious fare and enjoyed friendly conversation with some residents seated at nearby tables. This is a one-floor facility, so residents don't have to worry about stairs and elevators.
