Situated in the northeastern part of Oklahoma about a 30-minute drive from Tulsa, Claremore is best known for being the birthplace of Will Rogers. The community is also known for its abundance of green spaces, hills and waterways compared with other parts of the relatively flat state. The senior citizen population of Claremore makes up approximately 19.2% of the city’s overall population of slightly under 20,000 citizens.

Although the cost of living in Claremore is higher than the Oklahoma average, it’s lower than the overall national average. The area experiences warm summers, a higher-than-average amount of rainfall and less snow than the national average during winter — all of which could be appealing to seniors.

The average cost of assisted living in Claremore is $3,855 per month per Genworth’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey. This is significantly less than the nationwide average of $4,500 per month and the same as Oklahoma’s statewide average. However, costs of different facilities within Claremore may vary depending on where the facility is located in the community and the types of services and amenities offered.
